First of all I have a Ker, and I am thinking about buying the 1st grade materials when it is time. What will I need to add to the 1st grade syllabus?

Thanks,

Christy

The form drawing book is a must-have...Joyful Movement and the science book would be helpful if you do not already have those...

Joyful Movement and the Form Drawing book have been invaluable for us.

Thanks. I have form drawing resources but am going to take a good look at the joyful movement book--it looks like something that we may want.

Joyful Movement is the most useful book ever! It's one you *can* skim and glean but it should read deeply, too. Great great book.

Here is the link to the page on the Bookstore where we lay out what one needs for first grade at home:

Thanks. Another question--my dd's birthday is in April. After reading your article on readiness (she is so not ready for 1st right now) I am wondering if we should wait until January of 2009 to start 1st grade and just do K through next Christmas. Then she will be 7 for most of 2009 and 8 for most of 2010. I know that we won't align with the typical Sept to June schedule but I think she might do better on a January to Dec. schedule.

Does this sound right?

Thanks.
