What I mean to say is would it be better to buy the Language Arts blocks separately like the "Animal Legends" and "Saints and Heroes" or would it be better to buy the larger "Living Language" book?

I like the smaller books because the instructions and intent are very clear. I don't want a completely scripted book but I want more than "read animal stories to your children when they are 8" type book.

My children are 11, 10, and 8. My 11yo is like my 8yo. My 10yo is typical. I tend to use the same materials for all of my children but give my older children more writing for example.

It's so hard to choose!

Sincerely,
Debra, homeschooling mom of 4 ages 11, 10, 8, and 58mos

For you, Debra, I would suggest that you consider Living Language - mainly because it is a book which covers the whole progression of topics (spelling, grammar etc) over a period of years. Because you have several children, all fairly close in age it is probably a better choice. And there are specific lesson plans in there as well as a few multi age lesson plans.

Me again, Debra - but if you are asking does it have all the stories for 5 years of lessons - then the answer is definitely no. I t would have to have been the size of several telephone books! It is more about the progression of the language arts curric - how to teach, what to expect and how to work with LA over the course of years.

Lesson plans! Those were the words that escaped me! Five years of stories would indeed be as thick as a phone book!

Thank you for the clarification.

Sincerely,
Debra
