Dear All,

Following quickly on the heels of the Holy Nights Sharing will be our study of Manfred Schmidt Brabant's Spiritual Task of the Homemaker. I want to start on Monday 8 January - and I think it's ok that this is so soon after the Holy Nights experience as that isn't a study. And I also expect that perhaps not so many people might be interested in that as in the book study.

Since it's so short, I think we should simply aim to have read it through by the 8th. We can weave back and forth through the book - I don't think it is necessary to work with it strictly as it unfolds.

If you're new and don't know about all of this, then welcome aboard! The Spiritual Task of the Homemaker is a wonderful book, deeply steeped in anthroposophy, but quite approachable. It is about the esoteric side of tending the hearth and is a wonderfully gentle tool for those seeking to bring spirit into matter as they go about their daily duties.

If you buy it from Bob & Nancy's www.waldorfbooks.org you can get a %15 discount if, in the special instructions section on the order form, you tell them that you are participating in this study on my Forum.

The study will take place in the Waldorf Philosophy section.

Hello, Donna and everyone else!

I am new to this forum and this type of group in general - a bit nervous! But am looking forward to the book study. I read this book last winter after the birth of my third son, and loved it but I think it all flew right through me as all I remember is loving some of the language (my husband and I would read parts aloud to each other).

I live in a rural area and only use the computer when at my mother's place in town. This forum and the study groups promise a much-needed link to other Waldorf-inspired homeschoolers! Thank you so much for setting this up.

Looking forward to 'talking' more soon!

Kristine

Dear Kristine,

Welcome, welcome! I hope you lose your nervousness soon and feel comfortable here - it really is a very warm and friendly place, despite being only a virtual place! It seems that the intention of service and sharing that inspires this group is beginning to manifest - so on one level it does exist!

I am looking forward to the study, too. Sometimes its especially rewarding to have simply taken a book in on one level - and then go back and work with it more consciously.

I sat down to read our study book last night in the glowing pinkish light by my sleeping baby and realized that there were probably several (at least?) other women somewhere in the world doing just the same thing, getting ready for our book study, and I felt so content and finally a warm connection to a waldorf community - something I have never felt. Thank you all so much for this group and this chance to connect around something that means so much to me. Let's make this something really helpful and meaningful and, well, I'm going to try to just dive right in!
