Hey Everybody!
I've been thinking about our work together on this Forum - I've been very pleased with the level of conversation on the topics so far. I hope all of you have gotten as much from it as I have!
Our present exploration into self development is going well, I think, but is perhaps dragging a tiny bit.... So I am cutting it back a little and combining some of the topics. I want to finish this by the end of the summer (my original plan) as I would like to go forward with other things after that. So here is the upcoming schedule - and because this is a forum it is always possible for people to expand or revive threads.
6 August Presence of mind
13 August Right Speech, Deed and Memory
20 August Summing Up
27 August (I am away at a Christian Community retreat during this week so we'll have a pause)
3 September Festivals with two internet articles to read for background
29 October The Twelve Senses
I would like to lead an in-depth conversation about the Fall festivals. The two usual Waldorf ones are Michaelmas (29 September) and Martinmas (11 November). But there are harvest festivals, Succos, Halloween and Dia de los Muertos (Day of the Dead or All Hallows Eve) as well. It would be great if we could really discuss these as particular festivals and also why we give importance to festivals in our family lives. If anyone out there celebrates different festivals at this time of year, their contributions are also most welcome!
Then I want to go an to an exploration of the 12 senses. I think what I will do is give a presentation each week (not too long!) for discussion as I haven't found anything on the internet which I am really satisfied with. So I will carry this myself. And hopefully along with contributions by some of you!! This is an incredibly important topic for all of us and for our consideration on a larger scale when we think of what confronts most children in our society.
I will give more details about the festivals and about the 12 senses nearer the time.
As always, let me know what you all think about this!!
