Hi All,

We have had a few inquires about the conference from people with very young children - I am afraid that I need to say that the conference is only open to those who are homeschooling grades-aged children. So it is only open to those with children of 6 1/2 or up who will be starting first grade in the Fall of 2010 - or who are homeschooling older children. We will be asking about the ages of ones children when people register - there will be a maximum number of participants for each of the 3 grades-groups so people have to register in accordance with the age of their child(ren). I anticipate that there will be a waiting list for the grades 1 - 3 group.

There is a tight maximum on participants (please follow the link on the post which started this thread for details) and so we will be ruthless about this! I hate to turn anyone away but that is how it will have to be for this particular conference.

Hi Donna and everyone else,

I am very very excited to know that there will be a conference specifically for people with gradeschool-aged children. I am especially looking forward to participating in workshops for people with adolescent and pre-adolescent-aged children. This seems to be really lacking in so many of the conferences, workshops, talks etc that I have been to over the years. Which is kind of silly, really, when you think of it - all of the people with young children today: there are only going to grow older from here!

It will be a major endeavor for me to get to Chicago for the week, but I am going to do my best to make it work. It would be nice to finally meet you in person, Donna - and hopefully put a face to a lot of names that I will recognise from here.

-Debbie

Yes - there are so many conferences and workshops for people with young ones and the early grades - I am really excited about finally getting to address the needs of people with older children!

And one of the reasons I chose Chicago was because it is relatively straightforward to get there not only from anywhere in the US, but abroad as well. We already have a woman from Mexico who intends on coming! So it is good to know that our Southern as well as our Northern neighbors will be attending!

I'll be thrilled to meet you as well, Debbie!

I will post a note here on this sub forum when the registration forms and full details for the conference are ready. This should be in February.

I am so excited that I am in the "older children" group now! I really hope I can attend. Do I dare make plane reservations now or should I wait? Can you tell I'm a bit ancy?

Better wait until we can confirm your registration! That will be some time in February (I'll make an announcement here when the registration forms and further details of the conference are on our website).

Can't wait to meet you and all the other "names"!
