Default Summer Study

We've had a number of wonderful online Waldorf studies together on the Waldorf Education and Philosophy section of this discussion forum. We've studied the tasks of the homemaker, science subjects in Waldorf education, the temperaments and issues around being a teacher. Obviously, if one subscribes to the forum as a whole, one has access to these riches which remain in the archives for future members to read at will! Our conversations have been focused yet far reaching, with me helping translate and clarify aspects of what we have read and members contributing their insights, questions and experience.

I would like to take up two articles this summer. I would like to work with Arvia Mackay Ege's article The Human Hand: Its Activities and Role in Education http://www.waldorflibrary.org/Journa...es/handege.pdf
starting on Tuesday 22 JUly (normally we start on Mondays, but I won't be back from the conference I'm giving in Colorado by then).

Arvia Ege was one of the original Waldorf teachers in this country and, I believe, was a student of Steiner's. What she says is very important for anyone interested in more than a cursory acquaintance with Waldorf education.

The second article is called Child Development and the Teaching of Science by David Mitchell, a long term Waldorf teacher, author and teacher of teachers
http://www.waldorflibrary.org/Journa...ienceDavid.pdf

This also is a very important article to read as it helps parents gain insights into the very different way that Waldorf education approaches science as opposed to conventional education.

We will begin that study the week of 18 August.

Please join us!
